Family:  Procatopodidae (African lampeyes), subfamily: Procatopodinae
Max. size:  4.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.5 - 8.5, non-migratory
Distribution:  Africa: shore weeds and shallow parks in lake Orsedi and the Suksuk river drainage near lake Zwai, in southern Ethiopia, Lake Naivasha and inflowing streams near Nairobi, southern Kenya.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  An aberrant population was found in the deeper parts of lake Naivasha. May now be extinct in Kenya due to the introduction of Tilapia and Micropterus salmoides (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish (Ref. 27139).
