Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7 - 8; dH range: 9 - 19
Distribution:  Central America: Pacific slope, from Esparza (Costa Rica) to Río Sta María (Panama).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits moderate to fast flowing waters. Juveniles feed primarily upon aquatic insects while adults feed on vegetable matter such as aufwuchs and algae. Produces about 200-300 fry (Ref. 7335).
