Max. size:  10 cm SL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 19 years
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 10 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Baja California, Mexico to Bahia Santa Elena, Ecuador.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-15; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-12
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky inshore reefs (Ref. 9334). Omnivorous (Ref. 9334). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
