Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Mbomou/Mbomu River, tributary of the Ubangi River (middle Congo River basin), in Central African Republic (Ref. 42510, 52307). May have a wider distribution (Ref. 52307).
Diagnosis:  Description: one of the smallest species of the genus; head relatively short; frontal profile steep; rays of dorsal and anal fin less elongated that those of congeners; males only slightly larger than females, with a somewhat more massively developed head (Ref. 52307). Coloration: body dark gray-brown; scales with light margins (Ref. 52307).
Biology:  Rheophilic; pair-bonding and cave spawning species; in contrast to congeners, it seems the male guards eggs and wrigglers, while the female is primarily engaged in defending the territory (Ref. 52307).

Country info:  Aquarium imports of this species mostly came from Congo Republic, suggesting its presence in this country (Ref. 52307).
