Distribution:  Asia: China.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Description: Dorsal-fin rays iii-8½ ; anal-fin rays ii-5½ ; pectoral-fin rays i-13-18 ; pelvic-fin rays i-8-9 (Ref. 96004).
Biology:  Adults occur in babbling bottom of mountain streams (Ref. 26563). Utilized for food (Ref. 89718).

Country info:  Known from Guizhou Prov., Guangdong Prov., Guangxi Prov., Hunan Prov. (Ref. 120400); from Guangdong in the drainages of Han Jiang and its river mouth, Rong Jiang and its river mouth, Dong Jiang, Bei Jiang and Xi Jiang (Ref. 33406). Also usually found in the Zhujiang River (=Pearl River) and the Xiangjiang River, the Yuanjiang River of the Changjiang River (Ref. 26563). Known from Lian county of Beijiang River system in Guangdong Province (Ref. 33299). Present in Pearl River (Ref. 89718). Also Ref. 31517, 35840.
