Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Sicydiinae
Max. size:  9.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish, amphidromous
Distribution:  Asia: known only from South Canara and Madras in India. Recorded from Sri Lanka but identification is still tentative (Ref. 6028).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in estuaries and backwaters (Ref. 4833). Common along the margins of streams where the flow is slower (Ref. 41236). Predominantly found in fresh water, migrating up to torrential streams (Ref. 41236).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known only from the vicinity of a series of rocky pools in the Sitawaka River. Identification of this fish is tentative. Hence, occurrence needs confirmation.
