Distribution:  South America: Miranda river drainage in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-15; Anal soft rays: 15-17; Vertebrae: 34-35. Description: caudal fin rounded to subtruncate in males, rounded in females; longitudinal series of scales 35-37; transverse series of scales 9-10 (Ref. 101435)
Biology:  Inhabits two localities in the Miranda river drainage, both comprising shallow seasonal pools, about 50 cm in the deepest places, with dense aquatic vegetation, in areas highly exposed to sunlight (Ref. 101435).

Country info:  Occurs in two localities of the Miranda river drainage in Mato Grosso do Sul: one locality is located in an almost plain area continuous to the floodplains of the Salobra river, a tributary of the Miranda river; the other locality is in the Miranda river floodplains, near the town of Miranda (Ref. 101435).
