Family:  Squatinidae (Angel sharks)
Max. size:  135 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 120 - 400 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: endemic to Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on the continental shelf and upper slope. Common in about 300 m depth (Ref. 6871). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 50449). Flesh is tasty (Ref. 6871).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 05 June 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  traumatogenic
Country info:  Ranges from Geraldton in Western Australia to Port Lincoln in South Australia (Ref. 6871). Also caught off Victoria and New South Wales (Ref. 7300). Frequently caught in small amounts by trawlers fishing for Platycephalus and Nemadactylus macropterus in the Great Australian Bight (Ref. 6871). Also Ref. 247.
