Occurs in marine waters (Ref. 57855) as well as in fresh (?) and brackish waters (Ref. 58342). Known from the Black Sea and watersheds of the European Black Sea, Anatolian Black Sea and Caspian Sea; also from Sea of Maramara watersheds (Ref. 106151). Threatened due to habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution, construction of weirs/dams in rivers and water abstraction (Ref. 58342).
