Max. size:  7.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Upper Mekong in China and Laos.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-13. Complete lateral line, 2 pairs of short barbels, no infraorbital process, 8-9 branched dorsal fin-rays and 12-13 branched anal fin-rays. Dark mid-lateral stripe from above pelvic to end of median caudal rays. A second, weakly pigmented stripe above mid-lateral one, fading away above anal base. Anteriorly on the sides, the striped pattern not distinct, with a few short, light, thin horizontal stripes scattered over slightly darker ground color (Ref. 43281). A cleithral spot is present immediately posterior to the gill-opening. There is a dark stripe along the dorsal midline, from the nape to the caudal-fin base. Both dorsal and anal fins have a faint submarginal dark stripe (Ref. 37788).

Country info:  Found in the Nam Youan watershed of the Mekong in Louang Namtha Province, northern Laos. The Nam Youan River drains from Laos to China where it enters the Nan La He River. Also Ref. 43281.
