Family:  Embiotocidae (Surfperches)
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 8 - 229 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Point Delgada, California, USA to San Cristobal Bay, southern Baja California and in Gulf of California.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur offshore (Ref. 2850). Usually found in deeper water than other surfperches (Ref. 2850). Viviparous, female carries the developing young (Ref. 205).

Threat to humans:  harmless
