Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Characterized by pink head and semi-translucent yellowish body with 1-2 black spots on upper edge of operculum; presence of series of 7-8 internal squarish dark blotches along middle of side; three red bars on head, below eye and on rear edge of opercle; no prolonged dorsal spines; upper 3-5 pectoral rays and lowermost 2-5 rays unbranched; fifth pelvic ray 75% length of fourth ray; longitudinal scale series 24; predorsal scales absent; cheek and opercle without scales; depth of body 3.7-4.0 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
Inhabits caves, ledges and rubble bottoms of outer reefs in 20-70 m (Ref. 90102). |
