Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Labeoninae
Max. size:  16 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: known from the upper Salween River (Nu Jiang in Chinese) basin in Yunnan (South China), Myanmar and Thailand.
Diagnosis:  Body grayish black on dorsal and sides and with cloudy stripes, abdomen grayish white; caudal fin gray and with black lower margin. Head small; snout bluntly conical; rostral skin extending downward covering upper jaw; upper lip absent; lower lip separated from lower jaw with a transverse belt in anterior part and covered with papilla; upper and lower jaws covered with thin cutting edges (Ref. 45536).
Biology:  Lives near the bottom of the river and feeds mainly on detritus and filamentous algae (Ref. 28024).
