Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  24 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India and Bangladesh (Ref. 42980). Known from the Ganges basin (Ref. 35912).
Diagnosis:  Transverse scale rows 7-8/1/3-4; upper and lower caudal fin lobes with submarginal black stripes (Ref. 35912). Lateral line scales 41-42; predorsal scales 14-15; body depth 29.5-32.9% of SL; and dorsal fin height 28.9-31.4% SL (Ref. 42980).
Biology:  Inhabits streams and rivers at foot hills (Ref. 41236).
