Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 329 - 332 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific Ocean: Arafura Sea and Andaman Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal soft rays: 32-35; Vertebrae: 93-95. This species of the S. rothschildi species complex is distinguished by the following characters: dorsum with 16 saddles, 10 before dorsal-fin origin (DFO); caudal vertebrae 49-51, total vertebrae 93-95; vertebrae between pelvic-fin origin and DFO 8-11; DFO is relatively forward in position, predorsal length 71.8-73.6% SL, horizontal distance between origins of pelvic and dorsal fins (V-D) 52.3-63.0% horizontal distance between origins of pelvic and anal fins (V-A); upper jaw 41.8-43.8% HL, lower jaw 55.8–62.5% (Ref. 121607).
