Max. size:  6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 20 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: North Carolina to Florida in the USA.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 20-21; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 16-18
Biology:  Inhabits rocky and coral reefs, often inside tube sponges (Ref. 9710).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 18 October 2007 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
