Family:  Prochilodontidae (Flannel-mouth characiforms)
Max. size:  28 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  South America: Marowijne [=Maroni] River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Swims in the rapids. Undergoes downstream migration during reproduction where it spawns in alluvial waters. Six months later, the juveniles return upstream. Individuals are sexually mature at 22 cm (Ref. 12225).
