Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastinae
Max. size:  29 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 19 years
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 18 - 183 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Farallon Islands (off San Francisco) in California, USA to central Baja California and Guadalupe Island (off north central Baja California) in Mexico; rare north of Monterey Bay, California.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabit shallow reefs (Ref. 2850). Viviparous (Ref. 34817).
