This species is distinguished by the following characters: D IX,13; A IV,9; lateral line scales 46, above lateral line 3½ scale rows; gill rakers on first gill arch 12 = 5 + 1 + 9 (vs. 17 to 22 in congeners) ; big pointed spines on posterior operculum edge 2, with lower spine longer than upper spine; nasal fossa edges or on nasale surface without spine (Ref. 117152). |
