Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Chrominae
Max. size:  7.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 15 - 55 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean to Indonesia and the Solomon Islands, north to the Philippines; Palau to Pohnpei in Micronesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-13. Description: Head and body brown, tail white. Inner side of the pectoral fin base is deep blue. Body depth 1.6-1.9 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults are found around ledges and the bases of small caves of steep outer reef slopes. They occur in small groups that remain close to shelter (Ref. 7247). Diurnal species (Ref. 52881). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
