Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Chrominae
Max. size:  4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 37 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Mariana Islands to the Hawaiian and Society islands, south to Vanuatu and the Austral Islands. Possibly at Rowley Shoals (eastern Indian Ocean).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 10-11. Description: Pearly white with an elongate yellow blotch extending from behind the eye to the pectoral fin base, and a small, less than eye diameter, yellow spot on the posterior base of the soft dorsal fin. Caudal fin with yellow dorsal and ventral edges (Ref. 1602). Body depth 2.4-2.6 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults found in exposed seaward reefs. Sometimes inhabit clear lagoons or channels. They occur in small to large aggregations on the upper edge of the slope over live coral or rubble. Uncommon (Ref. 9710). Benthopelagic (Ref. 58302). Feeds on planktons (Ref. 89972). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Minimum depth reported taken from Ref. 128797.
