Pteronemacheilus meridionalis (Zhu, 1982)

Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong basin (Nam Youan, Nam Tha, Nam Ou) in Laos and China.
Diagnosis:  Body with about 15-25 irregular bars with dark edge and pale center. Pectoral rays with stiff dorsal expansion in male. Caudal base with black bar dissociated into a spot at upper extremity of the base and a vertically elongated blotch in lower half of the base (Ref. 43281).
Biology:  Inhabits river with slow current and occurs in the crevices of gravel (Ref. 51717).
