Family:  Pseudochromidae (Dottybacks), subfamily: Pseudochrominae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 38 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Philippines (Type locality) and Indonesia to northern Queensland. East to Solomon Islands and Palau.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 25-27; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 14-14. Description: Characterized by yellowish head; body with a pair of wide, bluish grey to brown stripes with broad central white stripe extending to end of tail; anterior lateral line scales 27-35; predorsal scales 18-24; depth of body 23.4-27.8 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Found in rich coral reefs (Ref. 8631) and coastal reef slopes (Ref. 37816). Also found in crevices and caves on steep slopes (Ref 90102). A possible mimic of Pholidichthys leucotaenia (Ref. 9710).
