Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Myctophinae
Max. size:  3.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range - 350 m
Distribution:  Circumglobal in region of Subtropical Convergence with northern extension to 30°S in eastern boundary currents. Southeast Atlantic: off the west coast of South Africa and at Vema Seamount.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 20-24
Biology:  Mesopelagic species (Ref. 7300, 75154).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 29 June 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
