Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Myctophinae
Max. size:  8.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range - 2000 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Probably circumglobal in distribution between Subtropical and Antarctic Polar Front. Southern Ocean: 53°18'S, 40°57'W and 51°05.5'S, 39°56.5'W.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 22-25
Biology:  High-oceanic and mesopelagic; found at 500 m at night (Ref. 4066).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 29 June 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
