Family:  Acanthuridae (Surgeonfishes, tangs, unicornfishes), subfamily: Prionurinae
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Gulf of Guinea and from Cap Lopez (Gabon) to Pointe-Noire (Congo) and São Tomé Island.
Diagnosis:  With 2 pale bars on head; 3 spines on caudal peduncle.
Biology:  A neritic, littoral species (Ref. 7345).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 07 May 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
