Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Pomacentrinae
Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 5 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa (to about 21°S) and Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros, and Seychelles.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-15; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 14-15. Exhibits geographic color variations.
Biology:  Adults inhabit inshore coral reefs, in areas with rich-coral growth (Ref. 9710). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
