Family:  Sternoptychidae (Marine hatchetfishes), subfamily: Sternoptychinae
Max. size:  4.39 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 370 - 500 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: throughout the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico with some records in the Gulf Stream as far north as Cape Hatteras. South China Sea (Ref.74511).
Diagnosis:  Three supraanal photophores (Ref. 37473).
Biology:
