Max. size:  2.5 cm SL (male/unsexed); 4 cm (female)
Environment:  pelagic; pH range: 6.80000019073486 - 8; dH range: 25
Distribution:  South America: Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina (Ref. 9086).
Biology:  Usually found in shallow, flowing and standing waters that can warm up considerably. Occurs in company with other livebearers, such as Poecilia vivipara and Jenynsia lineata. A photo of this species taken from Santos channel, state of São Paulo, Brazil has a maximum length of 3.3 cm SL (photo by T. Vaske, Jr.).
