Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  7.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: in White and Black River systems in Missouri and Arkansas, USA. Formerly in upper St. Francis River drainage in Missouri, but now extirpated.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky and sandy runs and flowing pools, often near riffles, of clear fast-flowing small to medium rivers.
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 30 July 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
