Family:  Anthiadidae (Fairy basslets or Streamer basses)
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 6.3 g
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 4 - 30 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Palau, Kosrae in Caroline Islands, Kwajalein in Marshall Islands, Nauru and Fanning Islands in Kiribati. Recently recorded from Tonga (Ref. 53797).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-18; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Description: Characterized by male having yellow upper portion of head and body, lavender pink below and caudal fin yellow with magenta upper and lower margins; female similar but with broader yellow zone dorsally; greatest depth of body 2.9-3.1 in SL; thickened and pointed front of upper lip of male; prolonged second dorsal spine of adult; lunate caudal fin with filamentous tips (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Occurs in large aggregations, few males and several dozen females and juveniles (Ref. 37816).
