Family:  Crenuchidae (South American darters), subfamily: Characidiinae
Max. size:  2.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: coastal streams of northern South America in Suriname and French Guiana.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Captured mostly in well-oxygenated small creeks where the current is relatively strong and the water is clear. This species is highly adaptable because some specimens were found in swamps where it existed sympatrically with other Characidae (Ref. 12225).
