Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  11 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Known only from the type specimen taken from the northwestern end of the lake.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found over sand in shallow areas. Feeds mainly on soft invertebrates (Ref. 5595).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 June 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
