Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Lampanyctinae
Max. size:  9.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 370 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: from about 19°N to 3°S, but probably farther to the south in the Angola current. Western Pacific: off Suriname (Ref. 13608). May be present in material reported as Lampanyctus nobilis from the tropical Indian ocean, eastern Pacific and from near Hawaii.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  High-oceanic, mesopelagic species. Found between 50 and 300 m at night (Ref. 4479).
