Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Lampanyctinae
Max. size:  8.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 1500 - 2390 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Disjunct circumglobal distribution in the region of and north of the Subtropical Convergence. Eastern Atlantic: south of about 21°S, east of about 5°E. The species is absent west of 40°W and east of 1°-5°E in the region of the Convergence.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 13-15
Biology:  Oceanic and mesopelagic. Occurs at depths between 350- 2,390 m during the day and in the upper 150 m at night (Ref. 4066). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
