Family:  Chimaeridae (Shortnose chimaeras or ratfishes)
Max. size: 
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 100 - 1100 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Sea of Japan and East China Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dark chocolate-brown with large light colored spots.
Biology:  Carnivorous. Oviparous (Ref. 205). Eggs are encased in horny shells (Ref. 205).
