Family:  Exocoetidae (Flyingfishes)
Max. size:  23 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 0 - 20 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: widely distributed in the central Pacific, but lacking in the inland seas of southeastern Asia, in the Solomon Sea, and in the Coral Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Epipelagic in oceanic waters. May leap out of the water and glide for considerable distances above the surface.
