Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Asia: Japan and in the Kuril islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-9
Biology:  Inhabits freshwater lakes and streams (Ref. 81467). The females show breeding colors. Caught for food in Japan.
