Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Oceania: endemic to New Zealand.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in various habitats such as small hypertrophic lakes, large oligotrophic lakes and lower reaches of rivers. Amphidromous (Ref. 11115). Feeds on a wide variety of benthic invertebrates.
