Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.5 - 8.5; dH range: 10 - 18
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit lakes, often solitary (Ref. 86760). Feed mainly on shrimps (Ref. 30769). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
