Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: currently known only from the Andaman Sea, Malay Peninsula, Gulf of Thailand, Java, Sulawesi, Maluk Is., southern China (southward from Hong Kong), Southwestern Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Ryukyu Is., Japan
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7
Biology:  Occurs along the coast of Southeast Asia, and generally most abundant in the vicinity of estuaries and shallow sandy beaches affected by freshwater (Ref. 58476)..
