Max. size:  4.8 cm SL (male/unsexed); 7 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.19999980926514 - 8.19999980926514; dH range: 10, non-migratory
Distribution:  Central America: Cuba. Reported to reach southern Florida from Cuba by crossing the Gulf Stream (Ref. 27148).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits freshwater ponds, lakes and streams. Prefers stagnant or slow-flowing streams, although may occur in mountain streams at elevation up to 600 m. Usually found in schools close to the shore. Carnivorous surface feeder.
