Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Upper Amazon River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits large rivers where the water is swift, preferring littoral zones adjacent to the shoreline over hard, sandy bottoms devoid of vegetation. Feeds on insects, mostly ants, beetles, and mayflies (Ref. 6868).
