Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 10 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Fiji.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 34-34. Distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: lower pectoral ray count (22 vs. 23-28); wider head, width 4.1 in SL (vs. 4.2-5.3); short snout, 3.7 in HL (vs. 2.8-3.5); shorter disc, 6.2 in SL (vs. 4.2-5.2); and possession of irregular dark bars on the body (Ref. 75094).
Biology:  Single specimen collected from the base of a soft coral (Ref. 75094)
