Max. size:  67 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 400 - 521 m
Distribution:  Southwest Atlantic: off Brazil, from São Paulo to Rio Grande do Sul; and Uruguay (Ref. 58839).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Holotype taken from a depth of 500 m (Ref. 26282). Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell (Ref. 205).

Threat to humans:  harmless
