Distribution:  South America: Amazon River basin, in the Negro River drainage; Orinoco River basin in from InĂ­rida River in Colombia to Maripa in Venezuela.

Biology:  Aquarium keeping: in pairs; minimum aquarium size 80 cm (Ref. 51539).
