Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 20 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Philippines and Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 10-11. Description: Overall yellowish brown, anal-fin stripe/margin brown anterior, caudal-fin margin dark brown (Ref. 90102). Recognized by the black outer margins on the caudal and anal fins (Ref. 48636). Body depth 1.9-2.1 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults inhabit seaward reef slopes (Ref. 9710), with caves and large crevices. Congregated in groups in caves when not feeding on plankton away from the reefs. Often see well away from shelter and in spread-out schools (Ref. 48636). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 113699).
