Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Sanaga basin, Cameroon (Ref. 13094, 81251).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): -1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-6; Anal spines: -0; Vertebrae: 31-33. Diagnosis: sucker moderately large and round, with numerous papillae of uniform size evenly distributed over almost its entire surface; mandibular barbels short but well-developed, each side of lower lip with 3 auxiliary mandibular barbels; premaxillary teeth large in 3-4 rows; mandibular teeth usually 4+4 or 5+5, rarely 6+6; eye moderately large; adipose fin very long and low, its origin far in advance of a vertical through anal fin origin; caudal peduncle slender; caudal fin almost truncate, very slightly emarginated or forked, with lobes slightly rounded, lower a bit longer than upper; no sexual dimorphism observed (Ref. 81251). Coloration: in holotype, dorsum lightly pigmented with melanophores, 2 light-coloured bands present (1 anterior to adipose fin and 1 posterior to anal fin); ventral surface and all fins relatively unpigmented (Ref. 81251).
