Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 1 - 1200 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: Walvis Seamount.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 33-33; Anal soft rays: 21-21. This species is distinguished by the following characters: anterior profile of head moderately sloped, forming with midline of body an angle of 70°; distance from origin of upper jaw to origin of dorsal fin (along the forehead slope) equal to head length; head length equal to length of ventroanal distance; dorsal fin origin at level of orbit; eye diameter approximately equal to caudal peduncle depth; gill rakers are thin, long (length slightly smaller than length of gill filaments); distance between gill rakers equal to 1/2 of their length; on upper part of raker, only 2 spinules; total number of gill rakers 18; teeth on jaws acute, in 1 row, hook-like, and numerous in posterior part of jaws directed anteriorly; vomer with 8 acute teeth located in 2 rows; palatine teeth acute and numerous; lateral line as row of enlarged scale poaches along dorsal fin base (Ref. 95096).
