Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 8
Distribution:  Asia: India, Nepal and Bangladesh (Ref. 4832). Reported from Afghanistan (Ref. 39701).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits streams and ponds in plains and mountainous regions (Ref. 41236). A tasty food fish but rare in the catches.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 09 October 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
